My city, to the west
In smoke in ash in haze
Paper box specialist, Samson
Crumpling beside
my going bike gears.
Wild mustard greens and trees working up.
We buckle
We ease down,
the earth below us, does not.
The Boarding House restaurant
all boarded up—but maybe not
A lot that is not dead in this town
appears to be.
